Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo, IA is seeking an ICU RN for 12-hour day shifts, part-time 24 hours per week. The role includes critical care duties in the ICU and potential ECMO support. Requires Iowa RN license, BLS, ACLS within 12 months, and TNCC; nursing leadership and teamwork are essential.

Relocation incentive eligible and applicable night and weekend differentials apply. The incumbent will engage in evidence-based care, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, and ensure high-quality patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; BSN preferred.
• No experience required; critical care nursing experience preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license (IL license if practicing in IL).
• BLS, Mandatory Reporter.
• ACLS within 12 months of hire.
• Cardiac monitoring course or advanced Nursing/Critical Care training.
• TNCC.
• NVCI within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to work under pressure and with diverse groups; strong math and language skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial and ongoing patient assessments; develops individualized care plans.
• Coordinates and delivers patient care; delegates tasks and collaborates with teams.
• Reassesses patients, updates plans, documents thoroughly.
• Communicates patient status and needs across teams and during shift transitions.
• Follows protocols; administers medications; demonstrates systems proficiency.
• Provides ECMO patient care when applicable: staff training, data documentation, and coordination with specialists.
• Delivers age-appropriate care based on patient needs.
• Maintains infection control and safety compliance; adheres to regulatory standards.
• Leads and guides others in high-stress situations.
