Job summary

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the ICU on a full-time night shift (12 hours). New graduates with heavy ICU rotations, capstone/preceptorship, or related critical care experience are encouraged to apply.

Hours are 7PM to 7AM with weekend rotation. The role involves a mixed Critical Care ICU and IMCU unit with advanced monitoring, nurse residency, and onboarding to build clinical judgment.

Qualifications

• ADN required; BSN preferred.
• NCLEX-RN passed.
• BLS required; ACLS within 90 days preferred.
• RN license active in Virginia at hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing and patient care during first year of practice.
• Work under guidance of preceptors and experienced nurses.
• Complete patient assessments and contribute to care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments with safety and escalation when needed.
• Participate in nurse residency and onboarding programs.
• Document assessments and outcomes in the electronic health record.
• Assume increasing autonomy as competencies are validated.
