Job summary

CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha seeks a Critical Care Nurse to monitor and care for critically ill patients after major injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease. You’ll start with a patient report, then perform rounds, procedures, and medications throughout the shift, relying on multitasking and quick decision-making.

Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in Nebraska.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 5 months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 5 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following injury, surgery, or disease.
• Begin with patient reports, then perform rounds and ongoing care throughout the shift.
• Assist physicians with procedures (e.g., chest tube, central line) and administer medications.
• Transport patients for MRI or CT as needed and advocate for patient best interests.
• Provide care with strong clinical judgment and a holistic approach.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As a Critical Care Nurse at CHI Health, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease.

Every day you will begin with a patient report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You’ll continue to provide whatever care or procedures are required throughout the shift. This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line, providing wound care, transporting the patient for an MRI or CT, or administering medications. To thrive in this role, you’ll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. You’ll clinically care for your patients, remain focused and attentive, and advocate for their best interests. It is your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response that puts you on the radar for advancement.

Compensation: Base rate + shift differential

Incentives: up to $10,000 sign on bonus, up to $10,000 education assistance (must have graduated within 5 years)

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
