Job summary

DCH Health System seeks a Registered Nurse to provide primary nursing care in a multi-campus system. The RN will participate in rapid response and Code Blue coverage, supervise licensed and non-licensed staff, and ensure high-quality, safe patient care across units.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, education, care planning, and collaboration with the care team to achieve patient-centered outcomes. English proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• RN license in Alabama or multi-state license required or ability to obtain prior to start.
• American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• ACLS required; additional specialty certifications as listed (e.g., PALS, TNCC).
• BSN preferred; associates degree required.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition on admission and ongoing, including acuity and safety needs.
• Plan, provide and document patient and family education based on factors identified.
• Coordinate care with patient, family, providers and other disciplines for outcomes.
• Assign and delegate nursing tasks according to patient needs and team capability.
• Maintain safety practices and document changes in care plans.
• Provide handoff reports and participate in unit huddles; support PI activities.
• Complete competency requirements per job class.
