Job summary

UC Irvine Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate care for an assigned patient group from admission to discharge.

The role requires strong critical care experience, a BSN, and flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. The successful candidate will mentor students and new nurses and actively evaluate outcomes throughout the care continuum.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year recent critical care experience.
• Minimum of 1 year recent ICU nursing experience or completion of 6 month UC Irvine Medical Center Clinical Nurse I, ICU orientation on this specific ICU.
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of patients.
• Coordinate care across disciplines and support staff and advocate for the patient through the continuum of care.
• Evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge; revise plan or make referrals as needed.
• Serve as a role model and mentor to students and new nurses on the unit.
