Job summary

The University of Iowa is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the ICU at the Downtown Campus in Iowa City. This 60% days role supports the nursing team in inpatient and outpatient care, performing a range of patient care tasks under direct supervision to help deliver consistent, compassionate care.

Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Ability to provide care with regard to patient condition and age.

Responsibilities

Record vital signs accurately.
Perform phlebotomy and basic procedures under supervision.
Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.
Provide for patient comfort and personal hygiene.
Transport patients, equipment, and supplies.
Stock and maintain unit cleanliness and supplies.
Participate in nursing care conferences and share relevant information.
Assist with preparation and care of equipment for procedures.
