BluePearl Pet Hospital in Arden Hills, MN is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ICU department. This role triages emergency cases and assists DVM with crafting and reviewing estimates, while performing diagnostics and ICU/inpatient care.

Qualifications

• Must be able to provide nursing care to patients per hospital standards and core values.
• Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy and collect specimens as needed.
• Capable of triaging emergency cases and assisting DVM with plans and estimates.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, monitor therapeutic response and side effects.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs (heart rate, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temp, respirations).
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring equipment and patients ASA I or II.
• Remain current on CPR guidelines and the assigned role during emergencies.
