BluePearl Pet Hospital in Arden Hills, MN is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced emergency department. The role includes triage, nursing care, diagnostics, ICU setup, and client communication.

As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will provide nursing care, report on patients during rounds, manage medications, perform phlebotomy, and assist with anesthesia and CPR guidelines in a high-energy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to emergency patients and assist DVM with crafting treatment plans.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and monitor effects.
• Perform phlebotomy and basic diagnostic tasks (e.g., radiographs, labs).
• Conduct physical exams and monitor vitals (heart rate, mucous membranes, temperature, resp. rate).
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring for ASA I or II patients.
• Remain current on RECO V CPR guidelines and perform assigned duties.
