Job summary

Prisma Health’s Nurse Residency Program invites new graduate nurses to join the ICU Medical unit at Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. The program blends core clinical training with specialty education, including skills validation, simulation labs, and mentorship, to build a strong nursing foundation.

Beginning March 1, 2027, graduates must complete their degree before January 15, 2027 to participate in this cohort.

Qualifications

• Education - Associate degree in Nursing. Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Experience - No previous experience is required.Candidates with greater than 12 months of experience are not eligible.
• RN licensure (compact/multi-state) or Graduate Nurse provisional license accepted prior to hire; licensure with NCLEX to follow.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Prisma Health’s purpose and patient care standards.
• Collects patient data and completes forms per unit standards under supervision.
• Develops plan of care with patient/family involvement under supervision.
• Provides treatments and discharge teaching while ensuring patient rights.
• Records care delivered and observes problems with rationale.
• Delegates care and participates in QI processes under supervision.
• Graduate Nurse completes clinical skills under RN supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
