Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking an experienced RN for the 3GH ICU at Jacobs Medical Center, specializing in general surgery and oncology. The unit emphasizes autonomous nursing practice within a Magnet-designated organization that supports transformational leadership and excellent patient outcomes.

Selected candidates will participate in an ICU Boot Camp training and may start on day shift before moving to nights.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Must have an active California RN license.
• Current ART certification, or BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six months of hire date.
• Minimum one year of recent acute care RN experience in PCU or IMU.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Able to function in a fast-paced environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to perform triage in critical/urgent situations.
• Ability to handle unexpected challenges in a team-centered environment.
• Excellent communication and influence with staff, physicians, patients and external constituents.
• Must be a team player and have good communication skills.
