Job summary

UC San Diego Health seeks an experienced registered nurse to join the 13-bed mixed Medical ICU/Coronary Contained Unit. You will provide direct patient care using the nursing process and collaborate with physicians in a Magnet-designated setting.

The unit treats Pre-Cardiac Transplants, CHF, Acute MI, CRRT, neurological and complex cardiac cases. CA RN license, BLS/CPR and ACLS are required at hire, with ART within 6 months; minimum 3 years acute care ICU experience.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Must have an active California RN license.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Minimum three (3) years of recent acute care RN experience in adult ICU.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities and to quickly assess moderately complex problems to develop potential solutions.
• Must possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, physicians, and patients verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with team members.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to critical care patients using the nursing process.
• Develops and provides treatment plans as requested.
• Promotes self-care through education.
• Organizes and maintains clinic equipment and supplies.
• Collaborates with physician partners and uses interdisciplinary approaches to patient care.

Education

RN licensure in California

BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications

3+ years acute care RN experience in adult ICU
