Job summary

UC San Diego Health is recruiting an RN for the Jacobs Medical Center 5FG-PCU on the 90% nights schedule. This 12-hour shift role focuses on medical oncology and palliative care, with autonomous nursing care and close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include California RN license, BLS/CPR, ACLS, chemotherapy certification, and at least two years in inpatient oncology. This is a career appointment with growth potential within a Magnet-designated health system.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Chemotherapy Certification at time of hire or commitment to initiate the certification process within 6 months of hire date and to achieve certification within one (1) year of hire date.
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years recent experience in inpatient oncology (within the last 2 years).
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
• Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results.
• Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
