Job summary

UC Health is hiring a full-time, second shift ICU/Med-Surg Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Inpatient Pharmacy at UC Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH. The role focuses on specialized clinical services and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.

Under supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, the CPS provides direct and indirect patient care, education, and project management within the specialty area. A PharmD is required with ASHP residency experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: PharmD, minimum required; preferred degree.
• Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency, with preference for ASHP accredited PGY2 and/or fellowship in specialty area.
• Significant research contributions and medication use evaluation (MUE) activity in specialty area of practice, preferred.
• Recognized as an expert in field of specialty (locally, regionally, or nationally) through professional service, presentations, and/or publications.
• License and Certification: Registered pharmacist or eligible for licensure in Ohio.
• Experience: 1 Year equivalent experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate drug therapy for appropriateness, safety, efficacy, and cost.
• Clarify plans with prescribers and document changes.
• Develop therapeutic plans and address medication problems.
• Lead education for pharmacy staff and students.
• Participate in research and quality improvement activities.
• Provide on-call and continuum of care in hospital units.
