Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA seeks a Clinical Associate for 9 CST ICU to provide basic clinical services and clerical support on the day shift, with every other weekend and rotating holidays. The position is full-time with a $7,500 sign-on bonus for eligible external candidates.

Responsibilities include patient registration, admissions/transfers/discharges, scheduling procedures, chart reviews, transporting items, and collaborating with the health-care team to maintain safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or GED.
• Experience: none
• Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
• Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills. Must be organized and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
• May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet. Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
• Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
• Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.
• May assist with chart audits.
• May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.
• May participate in the sitter process
• Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
• Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system. Routes calls as needed and takes messages.
• Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including back up coverage.
• Operates and maintains general office equipment. Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.
• Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.
• Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.
• Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.
