Job summary

HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design security and telecommunications systems for critical infrastructure projects in Denver. You will contribute to designs for access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection while producing complete construction documents.

With at least five years of experience and a strong background in Autodesk tools, you will collaborate with owners and project teams in a dynamic, employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in security design and familiarity with Autodesk.
• RCDD and Electrical Engineering degree helpful.

Responsibilities

• Represent HDR professionally in client-facing environments.
• Design inside and outside plant conveyances for telecommunications systems.
• Design fully coordinated security systems including access control, video surveillance and intrusion detection.
• Prepare complete construction documents.
• Perform QA/QC on work produced by others.

Job description

As part of HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, you’ll help design the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. Your work will directly support technological advancement, sustainability, and human experience.

Responsibilities

• Professionally represent HDR in client facing environments.
• Design inside and outside plant conveyances and cabling infrastructures for telecommunications systems.
• Design fully functioning and coordinated electronic security systems including but not limited to access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection.
• Take responsibility for complete set of construction documents.
• Understand that assignments have objectives that require investigation of many variables.
• Independently perform security system/telecom engineering assignments with broad general instruction from Project Manager as to the results expected.
• Write specifications covering all security system matters; perform reviews and work directly with owners as a part of project team.
• Assist other Designers, Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed, and be responsible for work in all phases of telecom and security design process.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT or PE
• RCDD, OSP, DCDC
• PSP

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in security design and familiarity with Autodesk.
• RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) and Electrical Engineering degree helpful.
