Job summary

A leading engineering firm in New Jersey is seeking an experienced individual for a role in security system design. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and must have at least 10 years of experience in the field. Key responsibilities include evaluating and applying ICT and ESS techniques, as well as designing and specifying cabling systems. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and apply ICT/ESS techniques and procedures.
• Design and specify Structured Cabling and ESS.
• Independently perform ICT/ESS engineering assignments.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other team members.
• Write specs and coordinate with owners as part of project team.
• Assist other Designers and Technicians and conduct QA/QC as needed.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and apply state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)/ Electronic Security Systems (ESS), techniques, procedures, design and modifications.
• Design and specify ICT/ESS including but not limited to Structured Cabling, Backbone/Horizontal cabling, ESS (Access Control, Camera System and Intrusion Detection Systems, public address systems and other similar low voltage systems.
• Take responsibility for complete set of construction documents.
• Understand that assignments have objectives that require investigation of many variables.
• Independently perform ICT/ESS engineering assignments with broad general instruction from Project Manager as to the results expected.
• Select and recommend procedures, ICT/ESS devices and equipment; write specifications covering ICT/ESS matters; perform reviews and work directly with owners as a part of project team.
• Assist other Designers, Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed, and be responsible for work in all phases of security design process.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPP certification
• RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) or PSP (Physical Security Professional) is a plus.
• Local candidates are preferred

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience
• A minimum of 10 years experience in security system design and familiarity with Autodesk
• RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) helpful
