Job summary

Amazon in Austin, TX is seeking an ICT Design Engineer to join a global engineering team focused on designing pathways, space, and cabling for AWS data centers. You will interact with architects, engineers, and contractors to define product requirements and ensure construction-ready designs.

You will contribute to shaping ICT design standards, engage with suppliers, and help accelerate time to market while maintaining safety and reliability in critical facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities, including data centers or related sites.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ability to read construction drawings or submittal documents.
• 2+ years ICT design experience in mission critical environments.
• 5+ years of working experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic and copper plant designs and specifications.
• Review and approve ICT pathway, cabling and equipment submittals.
• Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.
• Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.
• Travel 20+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS Data Centers.
• Develop creative, out-of-the-box solutions to complex design challenges.
