Job summary

Legends Global is seeking an Ice Technician to support Toyota Arena facilities. Under the Facilities Manager, you will maintain ice conditions and operate the ice resurfacer according to venue standards.

The role requires vigilance for safety, ability to follow SOPs, and flexibility to work nights, weekends and events. A High School Diploma or GED, driver license, and CIT certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 0–2 years' experience operating ice resurfacer and ice making equipment.
• Valid California Driver License is required.
• Current CIT certification is preferred.

Job description

Position Title: Ice Technician Department: Facilities Reports To: Facilities Manager Classification: Part Time, Non-Exempt Compensation: $30.25 hourly

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, an Ice Technician is responsible for maintaining proper ice conditions according to facility standards including ongoing maintenance of the ice resurfacer and ice making equipment at Toyota Arena. Please note that the Toyota Arena Facilities employees are covered by a collective bargaining agreement with Unite Here Local 11, and a condition of employment is a union membership.

Essential Functions:

• Operate ice resurfacing equipment with a high degree of knowledge in a professional manner
• Complete daily record keeping of maintenance logs and ice conditions
• Efficiently and effectively carry out ice maintenance duties according to the needs of operation
• Monitor ice temperatures and conditions and communicate variances to supervisors and the Facilities Manager
• Demonstrate a high regard for safety by completing required maintenance according to standard operating procedures
• Adhere to manufacture specifications and OSHA standards when operating equipment or using materials to mitigate risk of injury to self and others
• Assist in general maintenance projects outside the scope of ice maintenance and ice related duties as required in the facilities department
• Monitor activity on and around the ice surface to respond and reconcile potential unsafe conditions
• Participate in regularly scheduled safety trainings and recertifications
• Maintain an organized work area in and around ice resurfacer staging areas, compressor rooms, loading dock areas, and other back of house locations
• Assist with repairs to the dasher boards system, acrylic glass, and goal nets
• Participate in ice making projects including ice painting and in ice logo installation/removal
• Adhere to all Toyota Arena policies, procedures, and security protocols

Experience/Training/Education:

• High School Diploma or GED 0-1 years’ experience operating an ice resurfacer and ice making equipment
• 1-2 year’ experience operating an ice resurfacer and ice making equipment
• Valid California Driver License

Current CIT certification License/Certificate: Valid California Driver License

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

• This position requires standing, walking, bending and lifting 25lbs. throughout the day as well as working at the computer; irregular hours will be required.
• May be required to work with hazardous chemicals/substances.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events.
• This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
• This position requires stooping and lifting.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
• Must be able to pass background.
