Job summary

Meritage Resort & Spa in Napa Valley is seeking a friendly Server for the Merry Meritage seasonal program. You will welcome guests, take orders, deliver food and beverages, and ensure a festive guest experience in indoor and outdoor settings.

Ideal candidates have hospitality experience, knowledge of POS systems, and California Food Handler Card or ability to obtain one within 30 days. Flexible shifts including evenings and weekends are required.

Merry Meritage at Meritage Resort & Spa is a seasonal holiday experience featuring an outdoor ice rink, festive activations, family entertainment, food and beverage offerings, and memorable guest experiences throughout the holiday season. Our service team plays an important role in creating a welcoming, festive, and enjoyable experience for guests throughout the property.

We are looking for our next Server to join our seasonal food and beverage team. This role is ideal for a service professional who enjoys working with guests, takes pride in providing exceptional hospitality, and is comfortable serving in both indoor and outdoor environments.

As a Server, you will be responsible for providing attentive and knowledgeable food and beverage service at Merry Meritage outlets, events, and guest areas. You will take orders, deliver food and beverages, process transactions, maintain clean and organized service areas, and help create memorable holiday experiences for guests of all ages.

What You’ll Do

• Welcome guests with a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic attitude.
• Provide attentive food and beverage service in indoor and outdoor dining and guest areas.
• Explain menus, beverages, holiday offerings, ingredients, pricing, and service procedures accurately.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately using point-of-sale systems or other approved ordering methods.
• Deliver food, beverages, condiments, and other items promptly and according to service standards.
• Ensure orders are accurate, complete, and presented properly before delivery to guests.
• Monitor assigned tables, service areas, outdoor spaces, and guest needs throughout the service period.
• Maintain clear communication with culinary, bar, cashier, host, runner, and management teams.
• Process guest checks, payments, credit card transactions, and other transactions accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
• Maintain awareness of allergies, dietary restrictions, special requests, and other guest needs.
• Follow responsible alcohol service procedures and verify identification when required.
• Clear, clean, reset, and maintain tables, counters, service stations, and other guest areas throughout the shift.
• Restock service supplies, condiments, glassware, disposable items, and other necessary products.
• Assist with setting up, replenishing, and breaking down food and beverage service areas, events, and special activations.
• Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards at all times.
• Communicate guest concerns, service issues, product shortages, spills, maintenance needs, and safety concerns to management promptly.
• Assist with crowd flow, special events, holiday programming, and other Merry Meritage activities as needed.
• Provide information about the ice rink, Merry Meritage activations, resort amenities, and other guest offerings.
• Work collaboratively with the food and beverage, ice rink, retail, culinary, and resort teams.
• Maintain a positive, festive, and service-focused atmosphere throughout every guest interaction.
• Follow all company policies, service standards, cash-handling procedures, food safety guidelines, and applicable regulations.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the overall success of Merry Meritage.

Qualifications

• Previous serving, food and beverage, hospitality, or guest service experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in a hotel, resort, restaurant, bar, event, outdoor venue, or high-volume operation is beneficial.
• Knowledge of food, beverage, service procedures, and point-of-sale systems.
• California Food Handler Card, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Responsible Beverage Service certification, or the ability to obtain one as required.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with guests of all ages.
• Ability to accurately take orders, process transactions, and follow service procedures.
• Ability to multitask while maintaining composure, organization, and attention to detail during busy service periods.
• Reliable attendance, professionalism, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative service team.
• Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in cold temperatures and changing weather conditions.
• Must be available to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak-season periods.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while providing active guest service.

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling while working in indoor and outdoor service environments.

Team members must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, transport food, beverages, trays, supplies, and service equipment, and work in cold outdoor temperatures for extended periods while maintaining professional service standards.
