Job summary

City of Syracuse is seeking skilled personnel to maintain and operate ice resurfacing equipment and perform essential facility upkeep. Primary duties include safe operation of Zamboni/Olympia machines, daily maintenance tasks, accurate logging, and high-quality customer service to rental groups.

This role requires the ability to work outdoors and indoors, follow instructions, and interact positively with the public and staff.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Technicians are responsible for regular ice surface maintenance, safe operation and inspection of resurfacing machines (Zamboni, Olympia), general facility upkeep, preventative maintenance, daily logs, and reporting. Duties also include maintaining a clean, safe facility, providing excellent customer service, building positive rental group relationships, and performing Ice Rinks Attendant duties as needed. Requirements: Experience operating ice resurfacing equipment.

Typical Work Activities

• Responsible for regular maintenance of ice surface within municipal ice rink facilities.
• Practice safe operating techniques for driving, resurfacing, handling, and inspection of ice resurfacing machines (Zamboni, Olympia, etc).
• Perform general maintenance tasks at facility, including preventative maintenance.
• Accurately record all ice and equipment maintenance and readings daily.
• Responsible for completing daily and weekly reports for ice maintenance and facility maintenance.
• Perform duties of Ice Rinks Attendant as needed.
• Always maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Execute policies and procedures professionally and accurately.
• Practice excellent customer service and maintain positive relationships with rental groups.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of ice resurfacing machine operation including Zamboni and Olympia.
• Knowledge of ice maintenance and refrigeration principles.
• Ability to safely operate and inspect ice resurfacing equipment.
• Ability to perform general facility maintenance and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to accurately record daily maintenance logs and complete reports.
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Ability to execute policies and procedures professionally.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain positive rental group relationships.
