Job summary

Canlan Sports is seeking an Ice Maintenance Person to perform routine upkeep and ice resurfacing tasks for our facilities. The role involves operating the Ice Resurfacer, edging equipment, and performing janitorial duties to maintain a safe, clean environment.

The candidate should have strong mechanical aptitude, be team-oriented, and possess good communication skills. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license are

Qualifications

• Completed high school education or equivalent preferred.

• Previous experience operating ice resurfacing equipment is advantageous.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with local building and fire codes.
• Operate Ice Resurfacer and Edger; monitor ice depth and condition.
• Carry out janitorial duties and general facility maintenance as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of entrances, grounds and parking areas.
• Keep records and checklists for ice resurfacing operations.

Ice Maintenance Person (non-ticketed)

Rate of Pay 1875 2075 hour

The Ice Maintenance Person is a pro active and hands on individual who performs general maintenance to ensure facility upkeep and regular flooding of ice rinks is completed in a timely and safe manner Their primary responsibilities include ice resurfacing and edging operating the Ice Resurfacer janitorial work and general maintenance of facility

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with local building and fire codes
• Responsible for Ice Maintenance tasks includingIce Resurfacer operationEdger operationIce depth measurementIce choppingspuddingLevelling the IceIce PaintingDasher Board system repairArena Glass replacementHockey net refurbishmentExecute maintenance and repair of facility fixtures and componentsJanitorial duties as assigned
• These may include janitorial checklists vacuuming auto scrubbing waxing and buffing in line with established floor care procedures
• Ensure that entrances grounds and parking lot are kept clean clear and safe includingProperty & grounds cleanupGrass cutting and edgingSeasonal snow and debris removal
• Perform minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment includingIce Resurfacer safety check clean and waxSafe blade changes and grease machine as needed
• Maintain appropriate checklists records and reports including Ice Resurfacer sign out safety check

Qualifications and Education

• Completed high school education or equivalent preferred
• Valid drivers license preferred

Abilities, Attributes and Experience

• Previous experience training and operation of ice resurfacing equipment
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours evenings and weekends
• Approachable and team orientated with great communication skills
• Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude preferred
• Trade or Janitorial experience is an advantage
• Organised self motivated and proactive
