Multi-Skilled Technician
Location: Sikeston, MO

Pay Range: $38.09 Per Hour – Paid Bi-Weekly

Bonus eligible

This position requires flexibility within shift patterns and the ability to work holidays and during factory shutdowns for planned maintenance. Must be able to work any day of the week and adapt to schedule changes to meet business needs.

Background & Purpose of the Job

The Multi-skilled Technician is a Preventative Maintenance and Focused Improvement specialist responsible for optimizing equipment operation and maintenance within the factory. This includes diagnosing and troubleshooting failures, identifying root causes, and recommending design improvements. The technician will set the Maintenance Strategy for their respective production area.

The Technician must be professionally competent, qualified to operate safely, and possess knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and industrial controls. They should be mentally agile, a problem solver, and actively engaged in maintaining a safe work environment that enhances production efficiency, product quality, and waste reduction. They will participate in line technical teams, drive performance improvements, waste reduction projects, and cost-saving initiatives.

What You Need to Succeed - Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Mechanical Skills
  • Knowledge and technical skills to support the production line, focusing on performance targets, safety, quality, sustainability, and cost.
  • Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Planning – Yearly, Monthly, Weekly
  • Understanding of mechanisms and mechanical motion
  • Spare Parts Planning
Electrical Skills
  • Replace electrical components (motors, switches, drives)
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits safely
  • Understand distribution systems and control circuits
  • Understand electrical drive systems and control loops
Instrumentation and Control Skills
  • Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and related software (Allen Bradley or others)
  • Amend control and software documentation
  • Ability to learn factory networks, servers, and firewalls
  • Adaptability to change and learn controls for secondary support equipment like vision systems (e.g., Cognex DataMan Cameras)
Additional Skills & Competencies
  • Safety: Use all safety and environmental procedures; ability to become certified in Hazmat and First Aid
  • Environmental: Reduce waste costs and minimize impacts on health, safety, and environment
  • Quality: Ensure compliance with local Quality procedures to protect the brand and products
  • Leadership: Promote team development through strong communication, leading by example, and focusing on goals
  • Continuous Improvement: Use performance metrics to identify losses and develop cost-saving projects using UMS
  • Problem Solving: Identify, troubleshoot, prioritize, and resolve issues to prevent recurrence
  • Project Management: Use appropriate tools to achieve project outcomes efficiently

Requirements:

  • Associate degree and/or Technical Certificate
  • Experience in report writing, data analysis, problem solving, mechanical calculations, leadership, and coaching
  • Experience working as part of a manufacturing team

Preferred / Desirable:

  • Experience in manufacturing within a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods company
  • Experience in project management tools and techniques
  • Two years of manufacturing, mechanical, or technical experience
  • Knowledge of structured text programming platforms
  • Knowledge of robotics and control systems
