Job summary

City of Idaho Falls is seeking team members to work in the Ice Arena over the Fall and Winter seasons. Positions perform unskilled and semi-skilled duties related to daily operations, maintenance, and/or repair of the Joe Marmo/Wayne Lehto Ice Arena in Idaho Falls, located in Tautphaus Park.

Shifts may vary through March 2027. Responsibilities include cashiering, taking payments, assisting patrons, renting equipment, cleaning, and completing shift reports.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in all weather extremes.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent customer service skills are a must.
• Ability to count and handle money and make change; process credit card payments.
• Ability to lift and move skates up to 80 pounds.
• May require nights, weekends, holidays, and/or on-call work.

These positions perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties related to the daily operations, maintenance, and/or repair of the Joe Marmo/Wayne Lehto Ice Arena in Idaho Falls located in Tautphaus Park.It is anticipated that these positions will work a variety of hours per week through March 2027.Essential Functions:May perform all or some of the following: cashier tasks such as collecting payments, handling cash, closing out cash drawer and accounting for deposit, answering phone calls, using customer service skills to assist and direct onsite patron and user groups for programs, services and special events, check out rental equipment, clean and perform other janitorial duties, complete shifts reports and/logs for manager review, and maintain property, etc.Performs related duties as required.Minimum Qualifications:1. Education and Experience:A. Sufficient education and training to demonstrate an ability or aptitude to perform above duties;ORC. An equivalent combination of education and experience.2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to work in all weather extremes; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to develop effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public; excellent customer service skills a must. Ability to count and handle money and make change as well as process credit card payments. Ability to lift handle skates.3. Special Qualifications:May require employees to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or be on-call.Final candidates will be subject to a background check prior to employment.Work Environment:Tasks require variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc.(moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally moving up to 80 pounds). Talking, hearing and seeing essential to the performance of the job. Daily exposure to weather extremes and seasonal conditions. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, discriminating thinking. Frequent local travel required in normal course of job performance.Pay Range:$12.00 -$16.00
