Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health in New Jersey seeks a part-time Medical Records Coder to review inpatient and outpatient records, abstract demographic, financial and clinical data, and assign ICD diagnosis/procedures, HCPCS and CPT codes accurately.

Under supervision, you will ensure records are coded and entered into the system timely, maintain data quality, and support compliant medical documentation processes in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of education beyond high school or an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology or a closely related field.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) AHIMA certification required or within 1 year of hire.
• Analytical ability to resolve problems and exchange information on factual matters.

Responsibilities

• Review and abstract demographic, financial and clinical data from inpatient medical records.
• Assign ICD diagnosis/procedures, HCPCS, and CPT codes accurately.
• Ensure inpatient and outpatient records are coded and entered into the computer system timely.
