Job summary

DaMar Staffing is seeking a medical coder to accurately code inpatient and outpatient encounters, determine principal diagnoses and procedures, and ensure correct coding sequences according to guidelines. The role requires an associate degree in HIT or related field and professional certifications within one year (AHIMA or AAPC).

Collaboration with nursing and CDI teams is essential. Experience with facility outpatient, professional, or inpatient coding is preferred; equal opportunity employer

Qualifications

• Associate's degree HIT, Applied Science, Liberal Arts or related healthcare field.
• Certification within one year: AHIMA (RHIA/RHIT/CCS), AAPC (CPC/CCC/COC/CIC etc.), or AMAC (ROCC).

Responsibilities

• Code outpatient and charge validation (charge entry).
• Code simple inpatient visits ( LOS < 30 days ).
• Identify and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 or ICD-10-PCS codes.
• Determine principal diagnosis, co-morbidities, complications, and procedures.
• Ensure correct sequencing per coding guidelines and policies.
• Stay updated on coding guidelines through study and trainings.
• Participate in quality review meetings and collaborate with nursing/ CDI teams.
