Job summary

CSG Consultants, Inc. is hiring a Building Inspector to inspect residential and limited commercial structures at various construction stages, ensuring compliance with building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical codes.

The role requires ICC certification or equivalent, plus 1+ year experience with a public/private agency or 3+ years in construction. Local CA residence preferred; driving may be required.

Qualifications

• ICC Certification as Building Inspector or ICC trade-specific certifications; licenses must be maintained.
• 1+ years of experience as a building inspector with a private or public agency; OR 3+ years of experience in building construction related.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of residential and limited commercial structures to ensure code compliance.
• Investigate and report apparent violations of codes and regulations.
• Provide code interpretation to clients, building professionals and the public.
• Resolve problems and set priorities.
• Read and interpret building plans, specifications and codes.
• Detect deviations from plans or specs and standard practices.
• Maintain basic record keeping, paper or computer.
• Handle multiple tasks with accuracy amidst interruptions.
• Work with government bodies, clients, contractors and professionals.
• Follow oral and written directions.
• Perform other related duties.
