Job summary

Frederick Health is seeking a Lactation Consultant to provide education, support and counseling on breastfeeding, including phone consultations. Must be IBCLC certified and have RN NICU or postpartum experience. Role involves independent patient care and leading nursing activities within regulatory standards.

Shifts are 12 hours, with a 72-hour bi-weekly schedule, including weekends and holidays. Requires Maryland RN licensure and strong lactation knowledge.

Qualifications

• Requires RN licensure in MD or compact state.
• ASN in Nursing required; BSN preferred or willing to obtain within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Assess biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, discharge planning per nursing standards.
• Provide education, support and counseling on breastfeeding; conduct phone consultations as needed.
