Job summary

Luminis Health in Annapolis, MD is seeking an experienced lactation professional to conduct bedside lactation rounds, provide breastfeeding support, and consult with mothers experiencing breastfeeding challenges. The role emphasizes individualized care plans and teaching for families, with collaboration across the maternal-child health team.

The position requires current RN licensure in Maryland or graduation from medical school, and IBCLC certification. CPR certification is also required.

Qualifications

• Adherence to credentialing requirements of AAMC as stated in the nursing bylaws.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse by Maryland Board of Nursing or current graduate of Medical School.
• IBCLC certification required.
• RN license and CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding support and teaching to patients and families utilizing knowledge of personality, counseling skills, and family and group theory.
• Assess patients/families to collect data and identify learning needs according to established standards and policies.
• Develop and individualize a breastfeeding plan of care for each mother-baby couple in accordance with established standards, appropriate prioritization of problems/needs, and mutually agreed upon goals.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the breastfeeding plan of care, making revisions and recommendations based on analysis of patient responses to interventions.
• Oversee breast pump rentals and retail sales within lactation services.
• Create a learning environment for staff and patients; plan, teach, and conduct in-service education for staff and students, including orientation of new staff.
• Plan, organize, and deliver lactation services to all breastfeeding patients, both in-patient and out-patient.
• Establish effective collaborative relationships with other health team members as it relates to breastfeeding.
