Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to join the OB/GYN outpatient lactation team within the Breastfeeding Medicine Clinic. You will provide counseling, education, and follow-up, including telehealth visits and co-visits with clinic providers.

The role involves case management, triage of referrals, EMR management, and mentoring trainees while promoting breastfeeding equity across services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or public health required; Master’s degree a plus.
• IBCLC certification and RN license required.
• 5 years in healthcare/public health; 2–5 years as Lactation Consultant preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation support, counseling and education to patients in clinic and via telehealth.
• Conduct pre/post feed weights and co-visits with providers.
• Manage referrals, triage to IBCLC or provider level care, schedule appointments.
• Handle EMR and communications with patients and providers.
• Support programmatic and metric-monitoring activities for the Breastfeeding Medicine Clinic.
• Mentor trainees (nursing, medical or midwifery students and residents).
• Engage in community planning and breastfeeding equity initiatives.
