Job summary

Trinity Health in Michigan is seeking a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to support mothers and babies across the Postpartum Unit, NICU, and related units. This licensed health professional role requires IBCLC certification and usually RN licensure; full-time, 32 hours per week, rotating day and evening shifts.

You will assess lactation needs, document care plans, educate families, and collaborate with the care team to optimize feeding and discharge readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
  • Current Michigan Nursing License required.
  • IBCLC certification required.
  • Completes mandatory in-services for the lactation consultant role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to breastfeeding mothers and infants across Postpartum, NICU, Pediatrics, Labor & Delivery, and other units.
  • Assess lactation needs and document care, goals, and interventions.
  • Educate patients and families, including those with complex lactation challenges.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team on individualized feeding plans and discharge readiness.
  • Respond to outside breastfeeding-related inquiries and provide guidance.
  • Participate in breastfeeding policy adherence and interdisciplinary collaboration.
