Job summary

Whitby School in Greenwich, CT is seeking a dynamic Middle School Mathematics Teacher for grades 5–8. The ideal candidate has experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or is enthusiastic about project-based and inquiry-driven learning, with opportunities to teach Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus to advanced students.

A 4-year degree is required with valid teaching certification; private school setting with a strong emphasis on global-minded education.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's preferred).
Valid teaching certification or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience teaching Middle School at the 5th–8th grade level.

Responsibilities

Teaches a full-time course load as determined by the school, which may include elective classes or coaching responsibilities; additional compensation may be provided for extra duties.
Delivers differentiated instruction based on identified student needs and learning styles.
Utilizes a range of teaching techniques effectively and inquiry-based instruction whenever appropriate.
Institutes effective classroom management routines and displays awareness of the whole classroom.
Promotes global-mindedness throughout the curriculum.
Serves as an advisor, providing small-group and one-on-one guidance and acting as the first point-of-contact for parents and teachers to support advisees.
Supervises arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess.
Performs other duties as defined by the Head of Middle School or Head of School.
