Job summary

William Blair is seeking an Investment Banking Associate to support new business development, transaction execution and the delivery of IB products. You will perform extensive financial modeling, value potential clients, and assist in due diligence and marketing materials.

The role involves mentoring junior staff, presenting analyses to clients, and traveling up to 30% as needed. A Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA preferred, with prior IB experience in energy sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred.
• Prior investment banking experience required; 1+ years as an Investment Banking Associate strongly preferred with sector experience in energy, energy transition, oil and gas
• SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment (for US only)
• Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities
• Travel required: approximately 10% to 30%

Responsibilities

• Perform extensive financial/valuation analyses to value debt and equity for mergers, acquisitions and capital raising transactions.
• Build advanced financial models to value potential and actual clients and/or industries, leveraging broad understanding of valuation.
• Lead due diligence, research, analysis and documentation of potential and live transactions.
• Actively participates in presentation development and hypothesis testing to highlight financial analysis and research results.
• Develop, produce and deliver proposals and presentations to clients and prospects with marketing materials.
• Actively participate in client meetings and drafting sessions.
• Research and expand expertise of industries, monitor key drivers and provide insights.
• Identify improvements to processes and propose solutions to complete tasks more efficiently.
• Take ownership of client relationships and ensure smooth dialogue with finance teams.
• Demonstrate understanding of macro factors related to client industry and IB products.
