Job summary

William Blair in Chicago is seeking a Sell-side Research Associate for the Energy (E&P/Rare Earth) sector to perform fundamental research, assemble data, and build financial models under senior analysts.

You will prepare internal and external reports, visit companies, attend conferences, and communicate findings to the research team and clients, contributing investment ideas and generating new business for the firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; concentration in Finance or Accounting preferred.
• CFA, CPA, or technical designation preferred.
• 2–5 years of related investment research, big 4 accounting or financial services experience required.
• SIE Exam, Series 7, Series 63, Series 86, and Series 87 required within first 180 days.
• Advanced accounting and financial statement analysis skills.
• Proficiency in building computer generated financial models.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and validate data on quality growth companies using internal and external data sources.
• Assist senior Research Analysts in defining objectives for research projects and conduct analyses to identify opportunities.
• Prepare internal and external written reports, notes, presentations communicating research findings and investment ideas.
• Visit companies and attend conferences to build relationships with executives and assist in analysis.
