Job summary

Spring Branch Independent School District in Houston is seeking an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Mechanic to install, maintain, and repair ventilation, air conditioning, and environmental control systems across district facilities. The role is non-exempt, auxiliary skilled labor, reports to the IAQ Supervisor, and requires interpreting work orders, selecting materials, and applying safe, compliant methods. EPA license and Texas driver license are requested.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC coursework preferred.
• EPA Universal license or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
• Valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
• Stationary Building Engineer license preferred or obtainable within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC controls to maintain indoor air quality.
• Service ventilation, A/C and environmental control equipment.
• Repair, replace or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and wiring.
• Perform energy management surveys for efficient energy use.
• Process work orders; estimate time and materials.
• Maintain inventory and records of tools and materials.
• Coordinate with principals/supervisors on projects; assist with emergencies.
