Job summary

Gravity IT Resources is seeking an IAM Okta Engineer to lead testing and validation across a complex identity and access management environment. This role requires deep IAM and systems engineering experience to drive testing across interconnected platforms.

You will collaborate with Architecture, Systems, Security, HRIS, and Engineering teams to define testing requirements, validate provisioning, and manage defects from discovery to remediation, while working remotely on a contract through

Qualifications

• 7+ years of technical IAM, systems or DevOps experience.
• 3+ years in identity security or enterprise platforms.
• Strong knowledge of IAM lifecycle concepts and governance.
• Experience with Okta, Azure AD, and Active Directory integrations.
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives in ambiguous environments.

Job Title: IAM Okta Engineer - Testing & Validation

Location Requirements: Remote

Job Type: Contract to EOY (12/31/26)

Role Overview

You will lead quality, validation, and testing efforts across a complex identity and access management environment. This is not just executing test scripts-your deep IAM, systems engineering, or platform engineering experience will help you define and drive testing across interconnected systems. You will work with Architecture, Systems, Security, HRIS, and Engineering teams to understand identity workflows, identify testing needs, troubleshoot issues, and perform hands-on validation. This role demands self-sufficiency, strong technical skills, and the ability to operate effectively amid ambiguity, driving work forward independently.

Responsibilities

• Own and coordinate testing and validation of identity lifecycle processes
• Understand end-to-end identity workflows and system dependencies quickly
• Define testing requirements, validation methods, and involved systems and teams
• Build missing test coverage and identify gaps or risks
• Perform hands-on technical testing across identity platforms, workflows, integrations, applications, and security controls
• Validate provisioning, deprovisioning, permissions, groups, roles, application access, privileged access, and session termination
• Troubleshoot issues across interconnected systems and workflows
• Validate workflow automation, event-driven processes, scheduled jobs, APIs, logging, and monitoring
• Coordinate testing activities across multiple teams and systems
• Identify dependencies, engage technical teams, and escape blockers proactively
• Collect testing evidence, document defects, track remediations, and communicate status and risks
• Lead technical testing discussions and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of technical experience in IAM, systems engineering, platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, quality engineering, or related disciplines
• 3+ years of experience in identity, security, IAM, or complex enterprise platform environments
• Strong understanding of Identity & Access Management and identity lifecycle processes
• Experience with identity technologies such as:
  • Okta
  • Microsoft Entra / Azure AD
  • Active Directory
  • SSO
  • Provisioning and deprovisioning
  • User lifecycle management
  • Role and group assignment models
  • Identity/access governance
• Troubleshooting complex integrations and tracing issues across interconnected systems
• Understanding of workflow automation, event-driven systems, scheduled jobs, APIs, logging, and monitoring
• Validating security and authorization controls, including permissions, group/role membership, application access, privileged accounts, access removal, and session termination
• Ability to independently lead cross-functional technical initiatives in complex or ambiguous environments
