Job summary

Lockheed Martin's C2BMC team in Colorado Springs is seeking a Project Engineer to manage cross-ART planning, scope, schedule, and cost inputs for complex missile defense programs. You will support IMS objective evidence, status accounting, and cross-functional coordination to resolve issues.

The Work

Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will have the responsibility to work with I&T Leadership to manage, coordinate, and oversee the cross Agile Release Train. In this role the selected candidate will support the planning and execution of technical scope, schedule, and cost inputs for changes, ECPs and other customer engineering estimate requests. This individual will support development of I&T IMS Objective evidence, the collection of IMS status accounting, and will support cross spiral de-confliction, cross functional area coordination, and schedule/resource issue resolution. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Facilitating the tactical mechanics and execution of our monthly Earned Value Management (EVM) rhythm
  • These mechanics of executing our monthly EVM rhythm include working heavily within the program's EVM tools (Excel analyses spreadsheets, inputs to PM Compass, Open Plan input spreadsheets, RASCAL and CAP sheets)
  • Performs weekly / monthly analyses of EVM data
  • Inputs come from Program Finance reports (e.g. weekly actuals, hours reports, teammate reports, Eaglespeed material data)
  • Provide summary level information/conclusions from this analysis to their assigned ART (key drivers, anomalies, concerns, etc.) including elevating concerns to other impacted CAMs as well

Coordinates planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility. Plans and formulates engineering program; reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Evaluates and approves design changes, specification and drawing releases. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have a final secret clearance.
  • Proven experience with standard EVM practices and procedures, tools (such as PM Compass, OpenPlan and Microsoft Project), schedule creation/management, rolling waves, and EVM cost baselining
  • Must be a recent graduate of a CAM/EVM training course and completed OpenPlan, PM Compass or other EVM tool training within the last 2 years (OR MUST be completed within 6 months from employment start date).
  • Strong project management, program management, and/or technical lead experience
  • Demonstrated abilities highlighting acceptance of responsibilities, attention to details and meeting deadlines

Desired Skills

  • Desire to enhance project management skills including communication, the ability to deal with unforeseen challenges, and building strong relationships
  • Experience or familiarity with software development and/or Agile Methodologies
  • Strong problem solving, root cause, corrective action, and closure skills
  • Ability to lead discussions and determine resolutions to problems
  • Experience identifying IMS forecast and baseline changes via schedule change requests and "what if" schedules
  • Recent experience with DCMA Audits and Baseline Reviews preferably as the CAM, WPM or EV Lead answering the questions
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
