Emergency Services Consulting International (ESCI) is seeking an I/O Assessment Intern (Assessments and Training Public Safety) for an on-site role in Chantilly, VA. The intern will assist in designing, implementing, and evaluating testing processes for fire, police, EMS, and related agencies.

You will work with senior consultants and project managers, helping with exam development, data analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology (or currently enrolled in a graduate program).
  • Strong research, data collection, and analytical skills, preferably related to testing or assessment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and interact professionally with clients.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and comfort with data tools.
  • Demonstrated interest in improving public safety systems.
  • Reliable transportation

The organization combines real-world public safety experience with industrial/organizational psychology and data analytics to design evidence-based solutions. The team focuses on anticipating emerging challenges in fire, police, EMS, emergency communications, and organizational development. Role Description

The Public Safety Testing Intern is an on-site position based in the Washington DC–Northern Virginia Area. The intern will support the design, implementation, and evaluation of public safety testing processes for fire, police, EMS, and related agencies. Daily responsibilities may include assisting with exam and assessment development, validating testing tools, organizing candidate testing materials, and helping compile and analyze testing data. The intern will collaborate with senior consultants and project managers, prepare documentation and reports, and contribute to quality assurance and process improvement efforts. This role offers hands‑on experience in public safety consulting and testing, with exposure to industry best practices and client‑facing projects.

This is a paid internship opportunity for 20 - 30 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that can be accommodated around the intern’s current class schedule.
