Job summary

AdvanSix in Virginia Beach seeks an Instrumentation-Electrical Technician to diagnose, service, troubleshoot, repair and maintain instrument and electrical systems including PLCs, motor controls and power distribution. You will read electrical drawings and schematics, work with PLC/DCS hardware, and perform preventive maintenance in a high voltage environment.

Requires an Associate degree in industrial electrical/electronic tech and 5 years of experience; compensation is $35.00–$45.00 per hour

Qualifications

• Associate degree in industrial electrical/electronic technology or equivalent
• Five years of industrial Instrumentation-Electrical maintenance experience
• Ability to read/interpret electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic drawings and schematics
• Demonstrated knowledge of PLCs and CNCs
• Basic programming knowledge; troubleshoot and understand code
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics preferred
• Must read, write, speak and comprehend English; strong communication and teamwork skills
• Proficient computer skills and ability to use requisite software applications
• Able to operate various equipment including hand, power, diagnostic tools

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot critical equipment on failure and perform repairs
• Repair and maintain PLC and DCS hardware, software, and controls
• Read/interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and manuals
• Install and maintain electrical installations, conduit, and wiring in high voltage areas
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance
• Move and set up equipment as needed
• Ensure safe operations and compliance with company policies
