Job summary

Bakelite Synthetics is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, instrumentation, and process control equipment in an industrial chemical setting. You will support safe, reliable plant operations by ensuring systems comply with safety and regulatory requirements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
3–5 years’ experience as an I&E Technician in industrial manufacturing.
Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, and calibration.
Ability to read P&IDs, control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams and drawings.
Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe systems.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, troubleshoot electrical equipment including motors, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, lighting, and power distribution.
Diagnose and repair faults in low- and medium-voltage systems.
Interpret one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance following procedures and schedules.
Maintain and calibrate process instrumentation and control valves; document activities in CMMS.
Support DCS/PLC-based control systems, perform loop checks and functional testing.
