Job summary

SpaceX in Bastrop, TX is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Technician to support water treatment systems, including UPW, IWW, and ZLD operations. The role focuses on hands-on troubleshooting, calibration, and system optimization to ensure uptime of critical production lines and safety across the operations team.

You will read P&IDs and schematics, commission new equipment, and participate in PM plans while collaborating with engineers and water operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency
• 3+ years in industrial maintenance/instrumentation/electrical work
• Experience with low voltage controls (24VDC) and high voltage (up to 480VAC)

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation (pH, ORP, conductivity, turbidity, flow, level, pressure, temperature)
• Troubleshoot control panels, PLCs (Allen Bradley/Siemens), VFDs and motor starters for water treatment skids
• Diagnose 4-20mA, 0-10V and digital loops (Ethernet/IP, Modbus)
• Work with water operations to optimize chemical dosing pumps and automated valves
• Execute preventative maintenance on electrical and control systems to minimize downtime
• Assist engineers with commissioning and upgrades; read P&IDs and electrical schematics
• Maintain calibration/maintenance records
• Configure data acquisition hardware and HMIs
