Job summary

McKim & Creed is seeking an experienced I&C Engineer to join the Water team in Baton Rouge. You will program PLCs, SCADA, and HMI systems to design and implement instrumentation for water/wastewater projects, and coordinate with project teams and clients throughout startup and commissioning.

The role requires a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science and a minimum of 10 years in I&C design and programming, with familiarity in I&C drawings and P&ID.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• 10 years I&C design and programming experience.
• Familiar with I&C drawings (loops, cabinet layout/wiring) and P&ID.
• Experience programming PLCs and HMIs.

Responsibilities

• Program PLCs, SCADA, and HMI systems to design and implement instrumentation for water/wastewater projects.
• Prepare specifications and drawings; perform start-up and commissioning with minimal input.
• Implement Ethernet networks and wireless radio communications.
• Design with AutoCAD to develop instrument/control drawings and panel layouts.
• Collaborate with PMs, project team, and clients to implement solutions.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL INCLUDE:

• Utilize and program PLC control systems, SCADA Systems, and Human Machine Interface software to effectively design and implement instrumentation and control systems for water/wastewater projects.
• Prepare specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, perform start up and commissioning activities with minimal input from other personnel.
• Understand and implement communications systems such as Ethernet based local area networks and wireless radio systems.
• Utilize AutoCAD to design/develop Complex Instrument Control Loops, Instrument/Electrical Installation Details, Instrument location Drawings, Motor Control Schematics, Conduit Routing, and Control Panel Design.
• Create Instrument material take-offs from drawings.
• Work closely with Project Manager, Project Team and Client to implement solutions.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Strong writing and verbal skills; Able to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility
• Knowledge/Experience with Rockwell and Siemens PLCs and VTScada HMI is preferred
• Familiar with system networking.
• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• 10 years I&C design and programming experience.
• Familiar with I&C Drawings (loops, cabinet layout/wiring) and P&ID.
• Experienced with programming PLCs and HMIs. Knowledge
• Flexibility to accommodate varying demands put on them by PMs, Contractors and Regulators.
• Must maintain a level of precision and accuracy appropriate to the project demands.
• Must havea valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.
