Job summary

Medix is seeking a hands-on Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Manager to lead the engineering team that designs and supports automated control systems for equipment used to produce medical isotopes for diagnostic imaging and cancer treatment. This is a working manager role.

In addition to setting priorities and developing the team, you will contribute directly to system design, programming, integration, troubleshooting, testing, and startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or software engineering or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of I&C, controls, or automation engineering experience.
• Experience leading engineers or technical project teams.
• Hands-on experience designing, programming, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting control systems.
• Knowledge of I&C hardware/software, qualification activities, and plant startup.
• Ability to balance people leadership with direct engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage I&C engineers while remaining actively involved in technical work.
• Design and improve control system hardware and software for scientific instruments and production equipment.
• Develop or modify control software, review code, and troubleshoot issues during integration and startup.
• Guide projects from requirements and architecture through programming, testing, qualification, and plant startup.
• Work with the team to diagnose system faults, improve performance, and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Establish engineering standards for system architecture, code quality, documentation, and testing.
• Assign work, manage priorities, and coordinate schedules and resources across multiple projects.
• Partner with project managers, other engineering groups, and stakeholders to resolve requirements and communicate progress.
