Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in New Stanton, PA is seeking a Nuclear Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join a high‑performing team. You will work on projects to implement world class signal processing and control systems for nuclear plants, developing new designs and upgrading existing ones.

This role follows a hybrid schedule (2 days per week in-person at the New Stanton site) and offers opportunities for travel both domestically and internationally, with a focus on engineering growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 0–3+ years of experience.
• Strong technical interest and ability to apply fundamental engineering principles.
• Ability to work in a team and coordinate external support to complete project scope.
• Effective written and verbal communication of analyses, results, and recommendations.
• Knowledge of analog and digital circuit analysis/design.
• Awareness of field devices and control devices typical to the power industry.
• Knowledge of lab equipment use (oscilloscope, multimeter, function generator) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create drawings and design/technical specifications for Nuclear Instrumentation Systems.
• Prepare procurement/manufacturing specifications and documentation.
• Support resolution of technical issues including obsolescence.
• Assist suppliers or manufacturing operations with technical issue resolution.
• Develop system and hardware design specifications for Instrumentation and Control systems.
• Create hardware design documentation such as cabinet layouts, wiring schematics, and PCB layouts.
• Develop test procedures from System Design and Software Requirement documents.
• Investigate root causes of defects and coordinate defect tracking.
• Provide on-site or remote customer support for installation and issues.
• Travel to customer and supplier sites (domestic and international) as needed.

About the role

As a Westinghouse Nuclear Instrumentation and Control Engineer, you will be part of a high performing team assisting on a variety of projects to help new or existing nuclear power plants implement world class nuclear instrumentation signal processing and control systems. You will work with experienced colleagues to develop new designs and help upgrade and refresh existing designs to the state-of-the-art in a growing field with countless opportunities for deep technical growth.

You will work a hybrid schedule reporting 2 days per week at the Westinghouse New Stanton, PA location.

You will report to the Engineering Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Support engineering team for creating drawings and design/technical specifications Nuclear Instrumentation Systems.
• Compile technical documents / specifications for procurement/manufacturing.
• Support resolution of technical issues including obsolescence.
• Support supplier or manufacturing operations with technical issue resolution.
• Support development of system and hardware design specifications for Instrumentation and Control systems for new and existing plants.
• Support creation of hardware design documentation such as cabinet layout drawings, cable/wiring schematics, and PCB layout/schematics.
• Support Test document creation and test execution.
• Develop test procedures from System Design and Software Requirement documents.
• Support root cause investigation of defects and coordinate defect tracking efforts.
• Provide support to customers for installation and emergent technical issues.
• Opportunities to travel to customer and supplier sites (domestic and international).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
• 0 -3+ years of experience.
• Strong technical interest, including a desire.
• Apply fundamental engineering principles.
• Work within a team and coordinate external support to successfully complete project scope.
• Communicate (written and verbal) analyses basis, summary of results, proposed solutions, and implementation instructions to customers and team members.
• Knowledge of analog and digital circuit analysis/design.
• Awareness of field devices and control devices typical to the power industry.
• Knowledge of lab equipment use (oscilloscope, multimeter, function generator, etc.) is preferred.
• Previous knowledge of overall design and operation of Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) and systems is preferred but not required.
• Awareness of typical industry standard drawings including P&ID drawings, loop diagrams, cabinet drawings and panel layouts is helpful.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $58,000 to $73,000 per year.
