Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Instrumentation & Controls to join our on-site team in Akron, OH. This role supports design, programming, integration, and implementation of I&C systems for water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure.

The candidate will work with multidisciplinary teams, receive mentorship from senior engineers, and contribute to project execution across the lifecycle from design through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field and 2 years of experience or equivalent.
• Valid US driver’s license required and must pass MVR review.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of instrumentation and control (I&C) systems for water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure.
• Prepare and modify I&C drawings and documentation (P&ID, I/O lists, control narratives, wiring diagrams).
• Assist with selection, specification, and integration of field instrumentation, PLCs, remote I/O, VFDs, and control panels.
• Support programming and configuration of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (alarms, data acquisition, trending).
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines and review vendor drawings/submittals.
• Participate in site investigations, FAT, system integration testing, commissioning and startup.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline
