Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Solid Propulsion Development Engineer to lead and oversee work on a hypersonics vehicle and other programs, joining a diverse team that develops propulsion systems for spacecraft, missile systems, and other critical technologies. The role interfaces with project teams and subcontractors to develop solid propulsion for a hypersonic vehicle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• 10–12 years of relevant rocket propulsion development or test engineering experience.
• Understanding of solid rocket motor components and performance.
• Experience planning and supporting ground testing, including thermal characterization, environmental tests, and static firing.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, conduct trade studies, and develop analysis tools.
• Knowledge of standards and regulations, including manufacturing and testing directives.
• Excellent written and presentation skills for reports to teams and stakeholders.
• Strong project planning and supplier management.
• Must be resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville area.
• Active Secret clearance, with ability to obtain Top Secret if needed.

• Direct design, build, and test of prototype solid rocket motor components.
