Job summary

Ursa Major, based in Colorado, seeks a Chief Engineer for Hypersonic Missile & Interceptor programs. You will own the end-to-end vehicle technical baseline, integrating propulsion, structures, avionics, GNC, thermal, and mission systems into a flight-ready solution.

The role requires leadership across lifecycle from requirements to flight operations, working with PM, Manufacturing, Mission Assurance, and Business Development to meet aggressive schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 12+ years of aerospace vehicle development experience.
• Experience as Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, or Vehicle Architect on a flight vehicle or missile system.
• Deep understanding of propulsion integration, vehicle dynamics, and system trades.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the vehicle system architecture and technical baseline.
• Serve as final technical authority for vehicle-level design trades.
• Ensure propulsion integration into the vehicle system with margins and interfaces.
• Lead vehicle-level systems engineering including requirements flow-down and V&V.
• Chair technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR).
• Partner with management to balance performance, cost, and schedule.
• Identify risks and lead mitigation through tests or design iterations.
