Job summary

Meta is seeking an experienced Production Systems Engineer to join the Data Center Operations team. This role focuses on building automation to improve uptime and efficiency across thousands of servers in a hyperscale environment.

You will develop diagnostic tooling, drive fleet health initiatives, and partner with global teams to implement scalable solutions. A strong scripting background and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years in production systems engineering or large-scale hardware environments.
• 6+ years in hardware lifecycle management, fleet automation, or data center operations.
• Experience with Python, Bash, PHP, C, or C++ for Linux-based production systems at scale.
• Experience maintaining production systems including web servers, load balancers, databases, storage, and messaging systems.
• Ability to communicate designs and decisions through clear documentation and stakeholder alignment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and root cause systemic issues across the server fleet to maximize uptime using hardware failure data and telemetry.
• Develop and maintain code for diagnostic and automation tooling.
• Own diagnostic tooling requirements for frontline operations teams.
• Lead escalation to resolve tooling and hardware issues affecting fleet health.
• Validate new products in production environments and participate in integration.
• Collaborate with tooling teams to influence development roadmaps.
• Analyze data to prioritize automation opportunities for server repair workflows.
• Build cross-functional relationships to improve data center operations.
• Mentor engineers on fleet issues and tooling improvements.
• Travel up to 25% to support global operations.
