Job summary

E2 Optics in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Hyperscale Network Specialist to join our data-center-focused team. You will perform independent testing, validation, and remediation across structured cabling, fiber, and network infrastructure, using OTDR, OLTS, OPM, VFL, and related tools.

Interpreting OTDR traces, documenting results, and guiding junior technicians will be key. Occasional travel to client sites is required; safety and quality are prioritized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• OSHA 10 required.
• Completion of all required onboarding and project training.
• Customer system qualification requirements completed.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent network validation across data center infrastructure.
• Audit front-end network, fiber backbone, copper, cabinets, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
• Validate activation readiness: asset tag accuracy, uplink validation, circuit integrity, labeling, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot standard network issues: fiber contamination, mispatching, connector damage, polarity, routing, cable damage.
• Interpret OTDR traces to identify connector losses, splice losses, reflection events, fiber breaks, and installation defects.
• Perform fiber testing with OLTS, OTDR, OPM, VFL, and digital fiber inspection scopes.
• Travel as required to customer sites and support field teams.
