Job summary

Spencer Ogden is seeking an experienced Commissioning Superintendent to lead field commissioning for a hyperscale data center project. You will coordinate with construction, MEP trades, commissioning agents, equipment vendors, and the owner team to ensure a smooth turnover from construction through operations.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in commissioning, MEP construction, or startup in mission-critical environments and a track record with a major general contractor.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of commissioning, MEP construction, startup, or mission-critical experience.
• Experience supporting data center commissioning through project turnover.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience working for a General Contractor on large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead field execution of commissioning and startup across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and controls.
• Coordinate commissioning from equipment installation through Level 2-Level 5 commissioning and owner turnover.
• Develop and execute commissioning schedules with project management, superintendents, trade partners, and agents.
• Support energization planning and enforce safety lockout/tagout procedures.
• Manage startup activities for CRAH/CRAC, cooling towers, pumps, switchgear, UPS, generators, and BMS/EPMS systems.
• Facilitate commissioning meetings and resolve deficiencies, punch lists, and startup issues.
• Review commissioning scripts, test procedures, startup documentation, and turnover packages.
• Coordinate with vendors/subcontractors to complete testing on schedule.
• Monitor progress and provide regular reporting to project leadership.
• Support IST, failover testing, and owner witnessing activities.
• Ensure quality standards, project specs, and owner requirements prior to turnover.
