Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to operate and support Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy services. You will educate patients, prep them for treatment, and ensure safety during sessions.

The role includes administering prescribed therapy, monitoring equipment and patient responses, and maintaining complete treatment records. Candidates should have BLS/CPR, CHT eligibility or certification, and wound care credentials preferred. Flexible scheduling available.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse with current license.
  • BLS/CPR certification maintained throughout employment.
  • Current CHT certification or eligible to sit for exam; CHT within 12 months of hire.
  • Wound care certification preferred (or eligible to sit for exam).
  • Two or more years of healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, educates and orients patients about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and assists with transfers.
  • Administers therapy as prescribed, monitors chamber equipment and patient responses for safety and effectiveness.
  • Logs daily hyperbaric treatments and wound clinic visits; maintains accurate treatment records and uploads photos.
  • Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber and related oxygen systems.
  • Participates in safety program activities and assists with safety drills.
  • Performs other duties as required and attends hospital orientations and in-services.
  • Demonstrates commitment to flexible work scheduling to ensure patient care.

Job description

  • Prepares, educates and orients patients about the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. This includes lifting or transferring patients per local policy, getting them ready for treatment administration and answering their questions.
  • Administers the hyperbaric oxygen therapy as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider to the patient. This includes monitoring and controlling the performance of the hyperbaric chamber equipment, as well as monitoring the patient(s) responses during the session and making proper adjustments to ensure the patient’s safety and the safe and effective use of the equipment.
  • Makes the appropriate data entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound clinic visits and keeps complete and accurate patient records as they pertain to treatment documentation, to include photo uploading.
  • Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber and other hyperbaric support oxygen systems as required
  • Participates in the safety program activities such as assisting with safety drills
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services

Education And Experience

Minimum Required Education: Licensed Practical Nurse

Preferred Education

Experience: Two (2) or more years’ experience in healthcare preferred. Prior experience in wound or critical care preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certified Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR Certification- to be maintained throughout the duration of employment in this position

Must have a current CHT (Certified Hyperbaric Technologist) certification, or be eligible to sit for exam. CHT required within 12 months of hire

Wound care certification preferred (or eligible to sit for exam).
